River Rock has been and remains on a mission to help as many people as possible “prayerfully connect to Jesus, grow in Jesus and serve with Jesus.” That mission is needed. Approximately 2/3 of our neighbors are not actively involved in a local church.
In 2000 we began worship services in the Rockford Freshmen Center. In 2003, we moved to Rockford Christian School. Over the years, River Rock has expanded ministry to the point that we now use the school building every day of the week. On many evenings more than one ministry is happening. Those ministries regularly depend on using hallways, the gym, and sometimes classrooms, library or teacher’s lounge. We regularly defer to the school because we are renters in a school facility.
We are seeking God's will in thinking and planning for the next 15 years of serving. As part of that, we are pursuing a facility that can support growing ministries and mission. In February 2016 we purchase adjoining property to the school where we currently meet. We are currently working with an architect on a Phase 1 building plan and making plans for a capital campaign to launch later this year or early 2017.
