Sunday Easter April 5: “Expect The Unexpected ” Matthew 28:1-15

It’s three days later. The Jewish sabbath is not over, and Jesus’ followers go to prepare his body for burial. What follows is a series of history altering events including an earthquake, angels, and even politically motivated bribes.  But what if our focus on Jesus dying for me, misses the breadth, the depth, and the impact of what all went down that first Easter Sunday?

As I have been approaching Father’s Day, I have been thinking about God the Father. How I am his child, how we all are children of God. How is it then that Jesus is called God’s only Son? Are we not children of God? Why does John in one of the most familiar New Testament passages, from John 3:16. Call Jesus his only Son? I want to explore the beauty of how we have become children of God.
